As the name suggests, done correctly the top of these curtains appears to look like a series of short pencils stood next to each other, stiff upright and neat. It may be an oldie but, its a classic.

Pencil (or tape) headed curtains are a great choice for the more relaxed client, the client who thrives in casual Bohemia rather than wanting to appear contrived or too confined by convention. Pencil is perfect for that romantic puddle upon the floor.

It’s a simple way to head up a curtain if your intention is for an understated look but can also be used in a valance in front of a pair of curtains to give a more showy impact.

When considering a pencil pleat be warned, its best to use a lightweight fabric to ensure a good drape.
